Stainless steel flux cored welding wire

Welding wire/welding rod

Stainless steel flux cored welding wire

The basic working principle of flux cored wire gas shielded welding is the same as that of ordinary melting electrode gas shielded welding, which uses a meltable flux cored wire as one electrode (usually connected to the positive electrode, i.e. DC reverse connection) and the base material as the other electrode.

Introduction To Stainless Steel Flux Cored Welding Wire

Pure COZ or COz-I-Ar gas is usually used as the protective gas. The main difference from ordinary gas metal arc welding is that the welding wire contains a flux mixture inside. During welding, the molten flux material, welding wire metal, base metal, and shielding gas under the action of arc heat undergo metallurgical reactions with each other, forming a thin layer of liquid slag to cover the molten droplets and the molten pool, providing another layer of protection for the molten metal.

The national standard: Stainless Steel Flux cored Welding Wire (GB/T 17853-1999) specifies the model classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, winding, packaging, and other contents of stainless steel flux cored welding wire. This standard is applicable to stainless steel flux cored wire for arc welding and stainless steel flux cored filler wire for tungsten inert gas shielded welding. The non-metallic components contained in the core of this type of welding wire should not be less than 5% of the total weight of the welding wire, the chromium content in the deposited metal should not be less than 10.50%, and the iron content should be greater than any other element content.

Application Of Stainless Steel Flux Cored Welding Wire

Flux cored wire arc welding can be used for both semi-automatic and automatic welding, but is typically used for semi-automatic welding. Different welding wires and shielding gases can be used in combination for flat welding, overhead welding, and all position welding. Compared with ordinary gas metal arc welding, shorter wire extension length and larger welding current can be used. Compared with manual arc welding, welding fillet welds can obtain welds with larger fillet sizes. This welding method is commonly used for welding carbon steel, low alloy steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Due to the above characteristics, this method is a promising alternative to conventional manual arc welding for automated and semi-automatic welding in the era of welding steel. The flux cored wire sheath is made of low-carbon steel or low-alloy steel.
